About the team

The AI, Reporting, Insights & Automation Configuration Chapter is focused on strengthening pivotal data capabilities in Telstra.

The Analytics Chapter Type provides end to end data analytics services such as data engineering, analytics, and reporting; and ad-hoc analytical services by connecting deep domain knowledge with best practice methodologies.

We support cross-functional teams to enable them to form strategies and ultimately make decisions that are insight and data-driven.

The role with us

As a Data Insights and Analytics Analyst, you thrive on interrogating large data sets to solve problems. You collaborate with your colleagues to drive data led decision making across Telstra. By providing the right insights, in the right way at the right time you're central to our success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Probe, source and manipulate large data sets to resolve issues or develop solutions to enable business decisions
  • Define business problems, assist with the development of hypotheses, undertake relevant reporting, summarise the insights and make recommendations for action
  • Draw insights from data that you use to tell compelling stories that help drive data led decisions across Telstra
  • Scrutinise data for quality and accuracy and create final synthesised data set(s) for analysis
  • Share insights and dashboards with stakeholders and coach them to use them so they elevate their data driven decisions
  • Play an active role in the Data Analytics community by supporting continuous improvement initiatives
  • Apply knowledge of software such as SQL, PowerBI and/or R/Python to analyse and visualise data from across the organisation
  • Leverages tried and tested methodologies and tools to develop solutions, identify constraints and opportunities for improvement
  • Contribute to building a strong team dynamic so working together is fun and everyone thrives
  • Build rapport with team members in an open, friendly, and accepting way
  • Resolve stakeholder queries independently and refer to others when genuinely needed
  • Organise & schedule your activities to achieve your objectives and key results

To be successful in the role, you'll bring skills and experience in...

  • Strong communications, problem solving and stakeholder management skills
  • Able to run effective discovery workshops with stakeholders (business and technical) to define business problems, perform impact analysis, gather, and validate requirements, and assist with the development of hypothesis/prototypes to shape tailored data solutions
  • Probe, source, investigate and manipulate large & complex data sets, and document data sources, assumptions, gaps, and business logic.
  • Experienced in working with data solutions throughout end-to-end life cycle (data sourcing, data investigation, data transformation, data modelling, front end visualisation, and ongoing governance and maintenance)
  • Experienced with Agile ways of working
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-disciplined teams (across multiple time zones)
  • Desirable tech skills: Excel, SQL, PowerBI to analyse and visualise data
  • Previous Telstra, telco and/or Finance experience and knowledge of Telstra data and systems is a plus
